IPL 2025 Mega Auction: Base Price of Marquee Players

The most anticipated IPL 2025 mega auction is set to be held in Saudi Arabia’s city, Jeddah. 

As the retention and released players of all the teams are published. A total of 1574 players are registered for 204 available slots who will go in the IPL 2025 mega auction.

Big cricketing stars like Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Ravichandran Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, David Warner, and Mitchell Starc are released from their respective teams. The mega auction is set to be a high-bidding auction. All the teams are keeping an eye on these players to make their teams stronger.  

Unexpectedly, Ben Stokes, England’s strongest all-around player, is not registered for the mega auction. James Anderson, a 42-year-old experienced pacer who just resigned from Test cricket, has entered the race with a base price of Rs 1.25 crore, making his IPL auction debut.

Indian Marquee Players Set at Rs 2 Crore Base Price

Big names like Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Yuzvendra Chahal are among the top Indian players who have set their base price at Rs 2 crore. 

After being released by their teams, speedsters Mohammed Shami and Arshdeep Singh, who are both valued at Rs 2 crore, join them. There are likely to be heated bidding wars because Deepak Chahar, Ishan Kishan, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar are among the other Indian stars with the highest base price.

Focus on Rising and Returning Stars

England’s Jofra Archer, who participated in the 2023 tournament, and Australian pacer Mitchell Starc, who had the highest bid of Rs 24.50 crore last year, return with a base price of Rs 2 crore.

After being unsold, Nathan Lyon, Australia’s top off-spinner, now enters the auction pool for Rs 2 crore. Both Sarfaraz Khan and Prithvi Shaw, two young Indian talents who were overlooked at the previous year’s auction, have returned with base bids of Rs 75 lakh, which will make the bidding strategies more interesting.

Squad Limits and Purse Sizes: Punjab Kings with Largest Purse

All of the teams have 204 available spots in total, with each team allowed to retain up to six players. With a strategic edge, Punjab Kings will go into the auction with the largest purse of Rs 110.5 crore, followed by Delhi Capitals at Rs 73 crore and Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Rs 83 crore. The Chennai Super Kings, the defending champions, have Rs 55 crore available, while the Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants each have Rs 69 crore.

IPL 2025 Mega Auction Date

The auction, which is set for November 24 and 25 in Jeddah, is expected to be a fierce contest as ten teams compete for the best players, with a limit of Rs 120 crore each.

The Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad, the winners from the previous season, will bring in Rs 45 crore and Rs 51 crore, respectively. There will be exciting bidding battles that might change the league before the next season, with the Rajasthan Royals completing the teams with Rs 41 crore.
